Over this past weekend, I was basically crunching to get some assignments caught up from where my computer had been "under construction or repair" and sick b/c here in Ky lately...the weather is 60 degrees during the day & around 28-30 degrees at night. Needless to say I've been sick twice for a weeks at a time and needing to hustle to get caught up. ANYWAY- I started learning how to do headings, the paragraph parts of a webpage...and absolute and relative hyperlinks. At first, I was getting so frustrated and thinking I was never going to get the assignments done on time and couldn't figure out how to make the links show up right. So, I kept reading and practicing, over and over until...Ah-Ha...I saw one problem...how silly of me to not see this before but I was NOT saving my documents as "html" and not "txt" form. It was then that everything I had started learning and trying to put together to turn out as a Web document had finally started coming together...and MAKING SENSE. Woooo-Hoooo! I was actually learning and understanding this foreign material that I had been avoiding for so long b/c I thought I could never do it or comprehend HTML coding but I was now having fun and proud of myself...I had taught me...myself...alone...all of this thus far! I had downloaded an app for my iPod touch called "HTML5 Reference Guide" in the Itunes App Store . This helped me figure out the tag " (href) and using absolute and relative hyperlinks. If you wanted to do an absolute hyperlink for "google.com" you would code it like so: Google Search and then save it as an "HTML" document (not "txt"...lol!) and test it in your browser. It should show as "Google Search" and when you click on the link, it will open up "google.com." Well, I will keep you updated as I learn and figure all this coding garble out...it's amazing how people are so talented and intelligent as to make some of the amazing Web pages out there. In a few days, I will tell you one of my fav sites as far as APPEALING and one site I think is very UNAPPEALING. This was a former assignment we had to do in our Web Design class and I want to share with you my opinions and how different Web designs are in what viewers would consider easy to read, eye catching, organized and well planned navigation techniques...then their are ones who did not use much thought in those aspects...AT ALL.
